Special Attractions

The February 14 – 16, 2008 Long Beach Coin, Stamp & Collectibles Expo will offer these exciting attractions:

  • Hundreds of dealers buying and selling rare coins, paper money, postage stamps, postcards, autographs, historical documents, antiques and estate jewelry. On-site authentication and grading will be available by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation and Professional Coin Grading Service.

  • A dozen educational seminars will be conducted, including “Buying and Selling on eBay” by eBay consultant Troy Thoreson, and the debut of the Professional Numismatists Guild’s “Share the Knowledge” educational seminar series beginning with “Collecting U.S. Gold Coins” with Jeff Garrett and Doug Winter.

  • Another outstanding auction by Heritage Auction Galleries of Dallas, Texas (www.HA.com).

  • Monaco Rare Coin will display a condition census set of Type I Double Eagles (1850 – 1866) valued at more than $5 million. The display includes one of the two known 1861 Philadelphia Mint “Paquet reverse” specimens.

  • Stack’s of New York City and Wolfeboro, New Hampshire will display an extraordinary collection of rare, historic 1830’s era Hard Times and merchants’ tokens from “The Old Time Dice-Hicks Cabinet.”

  • Professional Coin Grading Service will exhibit the finest set registry collection of early U.S. silver dollars, 1794 – 1803, and special displays also are planned by Stack’s and Monaco Rare Coin.

  • Competitive exhibits hosted by the Long Beach Coin Club and free stamps for children from Long Beach Stamp Club.

  • A children’s treasure hunt will be conducted (11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16), and a free gold coin will be given away each day as a door prize to a lucky, registered visitor.
